Cost to complete initial scope of contracted work was very competitive, although some of the change order work was not as competitively priced (fairly typical and why it is always best to avoid change orders wherever possible).

We’d used Brigada once before– to redo our kitchen– though this job was smaller: we had them open the wall under our stairwell and install cabinetry in the hollow space within.

There *may* be slightly cheaper builders out there (I get the sense that if we’d hunted and searched we could’ve possibly gotten someone to do it for less), but for us, that toss of the dice is not worth making. Brigada Builders remodeled my 1934 Spanish-style home down to the studs. The project involved complete new wiring, plumbing, water heater, sewer line, chimney, bathrooms, kitchen, etc.

Took out an old front double door and installed a pre-framed door in its place
Wonderful! Owner Andrej came thru with the lowest price (was the only builder I called to actually come out and look at the project before giving me an estimate.) His time frame (within a week) was perfect, and the job was done in two days! Foreman Rene was very knowledgeable, and even moved our doorbell at no extra cost and with a smile!

Andriy, Armand, and their stellar crew made my remodel project a pleasure. They delivered as promised and kept a fast pace throughout. They were always responsive attentive and reasonable. Andriy knows the right way things should be done. I wholeheartedly recommend these guys. If their price seems a bit high, PAY IT! You will save yourself a lot of headache later. Going with the low bid on important work is a huge mistake. I did that 13 years ago and am still paying the price. These guys will do it right for a reasonable price.

Andrew remodeled our 1960’s house into a modern, contemporary home. This required painting inside and out, crown molding in each room, removing popcorn ceilings and wallpaper, and smoothing these surfaces, adding canned lights to each room, renovating two bathrooms, restoring the wooden floors, replacing water heater, oven, dishwasher, replacing sliding doors, updating the electrical, adding ceramic tile floor to kitchen, painting kitchen cabinets, and general repairs as needed.
We were renovating the home to sell it. Andrew’s crew of workers are amazing. They are knowledgeable and skilled in their crafts, and they are polite and professional–plus they clean up after they have completed a job! I have worked with Andrew before because he listens to what I want, offers excellent ideas, and tries very hard to provide exactly the service I have requested. I respect his opinions because he seems to be very up-to-date in what is currently appealing but will also fit the character of the house. He has also stood by his warranties on previous jobs he has done for me. I will continue to work with Brigada Builders on future projects because I do I will get quality service and work that is done in a timely manner

We are well pleased with the work of Brigada Builders. Andriy and his crew are professional, exact and timely. Each person not only took care and time into what they did, but were efficient as well. It’s apparent that each of them takes pride in the quality of their work. They were polite, helpful and a pleasure to have around (considering the mess!). Andriy came by several times to follow up on his crew and the progress of the project. Not only did he address our questions and concerns with patience, Andriy also offered ideas and design concepts that made the finished work all the more enjoyable.

Replaced wood frames around 6 windows (one of which required a complete re-install), 2 doors, and a hatch. Additionally, 4 access panels were rebuilt and installed. Everything was repainted.

Andriy was great! On the day of the initial estimate, he arrived early and was very thorough during the walk-thru. Compared to other contractors that I met with, Andriy took careful notes and measurements. He followed up by emailing me an estimate and rundown of the work we discussed. While this may not seem like a big deal, none of the other contractors provided me with anything in writing. Rather, they just quoted me on the spot or over the phone without providing any basis for the price they were going to charge. Andriy’s price was easily the best that I found and he even worked with me to get it closer to within my budget.
On the day the work started, he brought one of his workers (Vladimir) and we walked through everything together to make sure we were all on the same page. For the next week, Vladimir showed up at the house in the morning and worked all day tirelessly. Throughout the entire process, I emailed and called Andriy with numerous questions and additional requests. He always responded very quickly and was more than happy to accommodate any changes that I asked for. On the day work wrapped up, Andriy walked me through everything to ensure it was to my liking. The project area was cleaned up and left spotless.

Full remodeling, down to the studs including roof outside terrasses, driveway,sidewalk…. everything!
We did a full remodeling of our house, down to the studs. This was the first time we did any kind of work let alone a full blown remodeling. We were able to rely on Brigada’s experience and advises. They did give us good advices to best use our money to do a quality job. They are a team of very good craftsmen. They do a refine job. my husband is all about practicality , i am all about esthetics. Brigada was great in dealing with both my husband and I to make sure we were both happy. they were able to execute a lot of custom design that the architect or myself designed, like custom fireplace (2) and ceiling beam corniches and column that came out sooo pretty (in master bedroom and master bathroom). They really have hands of gold. They also have a very good specialist to do tile work. . i am so obsessed with details and quality (i work in the fashion industry which explains it!) and he did an impeccable work; the bathrooms and the kitchen looks so beautiful. it was always the same team of workers working on our house; we got to know them and we really like them. they were so helpful and kind. if i couldnot visualize somethig they would make mock up for me to see and decide what was best. Really nice and helpful people which was a very important feel good factor as this is our home they were working on!

Brigada was very flexible and easy to communicate with. we could call them early in the morning or late at night. They would send me email or text pictures so i could visualize things they were asking me to make decision on; so i could give them answers quickly and not slow down the momentum. when i wasn’t sure, i could count on their guidance. they have a very good taste level which was very helpful when i had to pick molding, paint color etc… and if it did not look right , they didn’t opt for the “cheaper” way of doing thing but they really aspire to do a quality job.
Regarding schedule, they were on a mission to beat the due date. they started work as early as our city permits and worked until 6pm when necessary as well as every saturday. this was really great because we could meet them on the jobsite every saturday or after work. Brigada is a partnership of 2 contractors that make a great team; that was a great advantage as it was always at least one of them on the jobsite – every day. that was very important.
our house is in Palos Verdes Estates which has a very demanding city and art jury. Brigada was very good in dealing with both our city and art jury which relieved a lot of stress for us. now that we are back in the house and as we see details or touch up that needs to be done, we call them and they come and do it without us having to “chase” after them. really easy. They are great. we made a great choice to have them remodel our house.

Repair of damage due to water leak including framing, interior wall drywall and textured coating, subfloor and floor joists, exterior stucco and gutter repair.
Andrew and his crew were prompt, courteous, did what they promised and did it well and within the time frame quoted. The price was reasonable compared to other quotes we received. They were tidy and did a great job with the repairs and clean up. Andrew kept in contact with the two workers and visited several times to inspect work as it progressed. We are very happy with the results and will be calling Brigada again for future work!

Demolition and remodel of a home, originally built in 1956. Brigada Builders was hired to demolish about 80% of an existing structure and then build a modern family home with up to date amenities and materials. The project included: removal of existing sheet rock, flooring, ducting, electrical system, plumbing, insulation and all windows and doors. The windows and doors were not energy efficient and were in disrepair. The existing kitchen was gutted and the walls dividing the kitchen and living room, which had been part of the original structure, were removed to make way for an open floor plan. The roof was removed down to the rafters because of extensive water and termite damage. After demolition, Brigada Builders worked closely with my wife and I to elaborate upon the architectural plans, in order to satisfy our vision of an ideal home. Besides creating a completely remodeled home, an addition was also planned to extend the foyer. Also, the floor plan of the house was revised to create a master bathroom and walk-in closet where there was none. The remodeled home included: an energy efficient HVAC system, all new copper plumbing all the way to the public water main, completely new electrical system and electrical panel, with integrated 90AMP circuit for electric car fueling, recessed lighting and ceiling fans, energy efficient dual-pane anodized aluminum windows, fiberglass french doors, porcelain tile-lined bathrooms with 1/2″ thick tempered glass shower enclosures, freestanding resin and cast-iron bathtubs, as well as a tankless water heater with recirculation lines and a recirculation pump, integrated into a single unit. A new 40-year dimensional shingle roof was laid down. Additionally, a brick fireplace which had been badly damaged in an earthquake was reconstructed to code, retrofitted, and a decorative Japanese clay tile applied to create a modern facade. The flooring chosen was 3/4″ thick American Walnut flooring, in 12′ long planks, which were hand scraped and stained by Homero Flooring in association with Brigada’s craftsmen. The exterior of the house was wrapped with horizontal 5″ wide Diamond Mangaris wood paneling, which was assembled in such a way as to hide the method of connection. Finally, smooth stucco was applied to the remaining exterior to complete the modern look of the new home.

Our friends and family had forewarned us, building a home was tantamount to a self-inflicted nervous breakdown. We heard horror stories of shyster contractors, of projects going on for decades, of lawsuits and permit debacles. We were told to expect being robbed, and unhappy because that was the way so many home remodels ended. My wife and I were determined to have our dream home, without having to resort to antidepressants and shock therapy while creating it. As such we took our time seeking out a contractor who would be more a partner in our project than an overlord on our property. We made ten copies of our architectural plans and rotated them to various contractors to whom we were referred. Unfortunately, the process was painful as we soon realized that the people we were meeting were not people we wanted to form a partnership with. Frequently, we were made to feel as though the contractor knew what was right for us, while we were made to feel ignorant about what “true design” was or exactly what it was we wanted in the first place. As the close of escrow on the house approached, we were referred to one more contractor, Andrew and his firm, Brigada Builders. Andrew came out to meet with us on the same day of our call, and briefly reviewed the plans. From the outset, I noticed something about his character, which immediately instilled a sense of trust in him. Perhaps it was his honesty, or his willingness to listen to our ideas and our hopes for our new home. Speaking with him, we realized that he placed a great deal of effort in establishing a relationship with us, the sort of partnership we were seeking all along. He asked for a few days to write-up a bid, and took the plans. A few days later Andrew called and laid out the logistics and cost for the project. The project would take four months, and would begin precisely on the day that escrow closed. On July 1st I arrived from the permit office at 8am to find several trucks, a large garbage container and a crew of workers ready for work. This was a very reassuring sign from the outset. From then on out, the construction continued on like clockwork, with Andrew giving us daily reports on progress and planning for the next days activities. When we had questions, Andrew would be there to answer or would be available by cell phone. In fact, I don’t believe there was a single unreturned call in all the time we worked together. As the project proceeded Andrew provided documentation of payments that we made, and written change orders for anything, which we might decide to add-on to the project. Andrew was also available to work with us in choosing and purchasing various decorative elements for the house, calling us if he spotted deals on items we might be interested in, like the $4000 bath tub by Victoria & Albert that was being sold from a contractor’s supply house for $400. He shared with us his knowledge and experience with new materials and technologies, and what we didn’t understand, he would take the time to explain. In fact, there was a feeling that we were truly being looked out for, like we were working alongside a friend, instead of a stranger, whom we barely knew. One other aspect of Brigada Builders that is worth mentioning here, is the calibre of craftsmanship, exhibited by the crew. Day in and day out, our house was tended by the same men, there was no revolving door of day laborers. Instead the house was filled with skilled carpenters, framers, and stonemasons. All of these men exhibited a great deal of respect and trust in Andrew. It was clear that they were a team and that Andrew was their leader. In the end, the project was completed exactly four months and 2 weeks after the start of work, but considering the enumerable changes and additions we made to those first plans, that was truly a miracle, one that our family, friends, and other naysayers found hard to believe. I would without a doubt, without a hint of hesitation, refer any of my friends or loved ones to Andrew and Brigada Builders, for any construction work they might need. This is the sort of contractor one never hears about and perhaps in some selfish way, I would rather it stayed that way. However, that wouldn’t be fair to Andrew or to the many couples or singles out there, like us, who are looking for the perfect contractor. You’ll be in good hands with Andrew and Brigada Builders.

Scope of work: Upgrading 2 bedrooms and a bathroom to become a master suite and office. The master bath included a frameless glass steam shower, radiant floor heat, a heated towel bar, a 5 ½ foot bath tub, quartz counter tops, porcelain floor tiles, and glass and ceramic subway tiles on the walls. No new square footage was added. In addition, the plumbing was re-piped/copper and a recirculating hot water system was added.
I pulled all permits and began the process with detailed drawings prepared by an architect. I didn’t have any good personal recommendations, so contacted 16 contractors (4 of them from Angie’s List). At the first meeting, Andriy did not really stand out and seemed young. I received bids from 8 contractors but only considered 3 of them, including Andriy at Brigada Builders.
At my second meeting with Andriy, I asked a bunch of questions regarding specific details as to how he would handle certain issues. His responses were direct and gave me confidence in his experience.
Once the contract was signed, he started work within 10 days and had one to four workers on site everyday, practically 7 days a week and completed the entire job in less than 7 weeks.
Contract price of $46,000 did not include: bathroom fixtures, counter top, cabinetry, and tiles
Change order: Bathroom floor elevation initiated by owner. I was hoping that the new bathroom floor elevation change would be minimal compared to the adjacent hallway floor, but after demolition it was determined that it would be more significant than I wanted, which was not acceptable to me. Andriy immediately determined how to make the new bathroom floor dead-even with the adjacent floor elevation. Cost of change order: $1600.
Andriy also gave good guidance on issues that were unfamiliar to me, and it didn’t take me long to trust it his judgment. He always kept his word, and was very helpful in offering to find or pick up items that were my responsibility, The work done was only the first phase of a few. I plan to contact Andriy to obtain a bid for the second stage.

We have used Brigada Builders for remodeling in our shop. A showroom was added to the office, and Adndriy and his crew have done walls, all the electrical and painting. Andriy was personally supervising the work, the guys were on time, clean and professional.

Brigada Builders painted the exterior of the house, the driveway, the garage and the cement walls in the back. I also had a little ceramic toilet that had some wood pieces in the gate which needed to be stained.

Along one side of our property, we needed two sections of fence replaced. One section (about 30′ long) required constructing a short (12″ high) wall to serve as the base of the fence. The other section (about 20′ long) required digging out old concrete fence post bases, installing new ones, and installation of a metal gate frame. Andrew arrived promptly to look at the project, discussed it with me, and provided a bid, description of the project, and a contract that night. After considering another builder, I went with Andrew because he favored keeping some trees along the fence; the other builder suggested cutting down the trees. Brigada’s bid was higher than that from the other builder, but Andrew’s professionalism, questions, ideas, and explanations made me think Brigada would do a high-quality job. I thought they did just that. The work began one week ago, and steady progress was made until completion today. The work was harder than expected – large amounts of roots from those trees mentioned above to cut through – but the Brigada workers took care of them in one day and moved on to the next task. They poured concrete the next day, and installed fence post brackets that, while more expensive, mean that future rotted posts (a problem with the old fence) could be removed relatively easily. They put up cedar fence posts and faced the fence on both sides with cedar boards. They built one wood gate, and installed a metal gate frame on which they installed fence boards. They stained the entire thing. Everything, at least to my novice eye, was done cleanly, straight, and to level. We are very happy with the result.
I thought it went great. Andrew accomodated a minor change to the contract at the outset. The Brigada workers showed up on time or early the first day, and every day. Andrew gave me updates periodically, and let me know or called when he needed decisions made.

Replaced 220 sq. ft. of rotting siding on house and detached garage. Replaced 2×2 boards on a pergola. Fixed back yard gate, which included replacing rotting wood.
I had some rotting siding on my house and garage and a back yard gate that was literally falling off the side of the house preventing it from being opened/closed. Andriy came and took a look and his recommendations to replace some of the siding. I thought very highly of Brigada – Andriy did a very professional job. He was able to start fairly quickly and finished the job up in a matter of a few days. He was very responsive, even to some additional requests I made to replace some additional siding and other rotting wood that I didn’t identify until after he had started work. I would definitely recommend him – he did a quality job.

Our bathroom was remodelled. Floor, wall and shower tile was replaced. Sink, plumbing and lighting fixtures were replaced. Painting also. Repairs to subfloor and new shower hot mop were done.

Brigada Builders worked on my house in November, 2010, and the work involved some minor demolition of wood and brick structures, replacing rotten siding and outside doors, construction of a fence, sealing vents and windows and repainting the complete exterior.
Brigada Builders was prompt, neat, and consulted me regarding issues discovered after the initial demolition. We agreed on the modifications needed to the original estimate and the total work was completed in just a little over a week. Andriy was fantastic from start to finish. As another reviewer noted, he looks quite young, but he knew exactly what he was talking about, and proved to be a consumate professional. He provided an excellent quote, and was able to start quickly, even though this was a relatively small job. He and his workers showed up exactly when they said they would, and worked all day, every day they were on the job. They were quick, quiet, and VERY tidy – cleaned up a little bit each day, then did a thorough cleanup when they left. The stucco came out beautifully, if not for the fact that it isn’t painted yet, you wouldn’t be able to tell where the patches are. They did an absolutely expert job on the tiles – mitered all the corners, and they look like they were manufactured as corner pieces. It’s beautiful. Wish I had found them when I first started on the house!! Can’t say enough good – look forward to using them again.

The remodeling of entire condo that includes 3 bathrooms, living room, kitchen, dining room, office and 2 bedrooms.
Everything was performed at the highest level. As a designer I can say that it was a perfect cooperation between contractor and workers. The team was very diligent and accurate with their work. The project was in the expected condition by the end. Everything was performered according to the time frames and schedule. Definitely can say that The Brigada builders are experts at their job! Remodeled a bathroom by eliminating two closets in the ajacent bedroom, to increase the size, built a new closet for that bedroom and for the family room, replaced one window and two window panes, added gutters and downspounts to the outside, removed a roof structure and repaired the stucco and wood siding, constructed a side gate.
This is the fourth time my husband and I have used Brigada Builders for either a remodel or repair. I am willing to wait for Andrew’s team because they are professionals who will do an excellent job. Andrew has a designer eye for details, and I trust his judgement . This remodel took longer than we were expecting, but I do have a habit of increasing the scope of the work while I have the crew available. We have worked with various members of his crew through the years, and they are always polite, prompt, and extremely knowledgeable.

The job they are doing right now is not finished yet. I used them earlier last year for a door. They were pretty much experts in their field. They’re experienced and good at what they do. It worked out pretty well. There’s been a delay with the front door only because I wanted to find the materials myself. When he initially started to do more work, I didn’t want it completed with the same material. I wanted to buy my own. The price was probably average.

Basically Brigada Builders renovated our whole house with building a new masters bath room and a new CHEF’S KITCHEN.
The work involved the following:
1- tearing down 2 bath rooms, a fire place and some walls.
2- gutting 4 rooms and refinish them.
3- re-configuration and building of new walls as well as building from scratch the masters bath room.
4- Building & Installing completely a new kitchen including a 48″ range. hood, 42” subzero refrigerator and more.
5- Installing over 2000 Square feet of tile, including all walls & the ceilings in 2 showers.
6- re-fitting all the necessary plumbing, including INSTANT water heater and all other elements such as faucets etc..
7- re-painting 7 rooms including decorative detail work.

Added a 100+ foot master bathroom to the house. Extended square footage, planning, permits, the works.
This is the second time I have used Brigada Builders for a job on my house. They are incredibly professional, punctual, detail oriented and on the side of their customers.
Andrew will be upfront with costing. Will provide a full scope of work. Will have the team there daily on time and clean up after themselves every day.
We added a 115 sq foot master bathroom onto the back of my house. Took about 6 weeks but it is wonderful, masterful work. Fully permitted. Any issues that arose along the way were communicated clearly and in a timely manner and were dealt with swiftly.
Can’t say enough about this crew and they will be the first call any time I need work done.

Exterior carpentry work to multiple units of our HOA. Replacement of boards, painting, stucco work.
I was very pleased with Brigada in general, they were very professional and punctual with everything they did. We had multiple locations across our small HOA that needed exterior board replacement, stucco work and finish painting for all the projects involved. The work was approached over a week, which I feel that other vendors may have tried to brush off this project as small and not take the time needed to do a good job. Everything that was replaced looks like it has been apart of the complex from the beginning, meaning the fit and finish of all the work made it look like it was there all along and was not a bad replacement job. This aspect was very important to us as we have had other exterior work done that the details of type of wood and paint were not paid attention to and it ended up standing out like a sore thumb. The onsite crew were courteous professional and a joy to have around. After much research I had a hard time having any contractors able to want to even consider this job and was so happy that Brigada ended up coming out and doing the estimate and job for us. Highly recommend them to anyone reading this.

I had them put up “quiet rock” drywall for soundproofing.
It went very well. To keep my carpet clean, they put down plastic from the front door to the back bedroom where the work was done.
They were prompt and considerate. The work was high quality. Can’t tell that any work has been done to the wall. They cleaned up when they were done. Work was done in the time frame that they gave me. 5 days.

Andrew had done some repair work for me about two years ago when I had water damage, and I knew he would be the one I would choose to do a major remodel at my house. I lilke to work with Andrew because he actually listens to what I want and has an artistic eye for what looks nice and will work. He is also very responsive to my calls. I have worked with other contractors who have preconceived ideas of what I want done or have chosen to iignore what I have asked for. He has an excellent and talented crew who showed up each day at 8:00 a.m. and worked until 5:00 p.m, including most Saturdays. The renovations were numerous. He opened a wall to change a bedroom into a dining room, replaced the majority of the windows in my house, gutted and redid one bathroom, and remodeled another, painted, tiled, and did a lot of delayed maintenance. Every room in the house had some work that needed to be done. I am very happy with the results. I took a cruise during part of the remodel, and felt confident leaving Andrew and his crew in charge of the house. If I have more work that is needed to be done in the future, I will choose Andrew again.

Brigada Builders transformed our ugly basement into a beautiful laundry room/storage area.

the other side of the condo complex as well as moving water lines and adding a sump pump.
They scraped off the cottage cheese from the ceiling and drywalled the walls.
They installed a floor, lighting, custom cabinets and a custom railing. They rebuilt our stairway and installed carpet.
They built beautiful cabinets in very awkward places such as under the stairs.
All of the work is exceptionally well crafted and custom with top of the line materials.

They are doing plumbing work for me and they are still working.
They are excellent! They did the demolition and they did all the plumbing work, installed jacuzzis, sinks, a dishwasher, and a washer and dryer in the laundry room. I would absolutely recommend them to other people!

Close and tile a long hole in a floor and subfloor between two joists: install a portion of a subfloor between the two joists, install the layers above it including a water-seal layer and attaching it to the existing surrounding layer to maintain continuity of the water seal. Tiling the section on the top to match as close as possible to the existing tiles.

Brigada Builders was hired to perform a complete master bathroom remodel in a house built in 1939. This included demolition down to the studs and relocation of the infrastructure, to create a separate bath and shower, toilet, and vanity areas, and heated floor. Brigada was contracted to provide labor, selected materials, and permits in their original bid. in summary, Brigada provided the contracted items and additional recessed lights, attic insulation, and other upgrades in the remodel. Because I wanted complete control of the materials and fixtures, tub, shower, toilet, etc., those items were specified to be provided by me. The projected timeline was 4 weeks.
Once selected, I had at least two subsequent meetings with Andriy, the owner of Brigada Builders regarding the layout of the bathroom. He was very accommodating in making sure that we were on the same page in the placement of the tub, shower, toilet and vanity. He measured, calculated, re-measured and recalculated, and repeated the process one more time before demolition began to make sure that everything I wanted could be accommodated in my 9-foot by 9-foot space. At our last meeting a few days before starting, he brought out his wax pencil and outlined the layout on the floor and walls so that I could get a better idea of the planned remodel. That was the first thing I liked about him because he is not a salesman, he is a Contractor. He took my vision and explained to me the limitations and practicality of what I wanted versus what could be accommodated within my budget. At this final meeting, I gave him a deposit and he emailed me a final contract outlining what he would provide, what I would provide, and a payment schedule which corresponded to the construction milestones.
On Monday morning at 7:50 a.m., Andriy and his main guy Victor (site manager) and another employee pulled up, and at 8 a.m. sharp the doorbell rang. Because Brigada is licensed, bonded and insured, I had no qualms in providing them a set of keys. After introducing the crew to my partner and I, Andriy reviewed the plan with us once more. While doing this, his crew began putting down protective paper on the hardwood floors so as not to damage them, and covered the doorways and large furniture pieces with plastic to minimize the dust from the resulting demolition and construction. Once this was completed, the demolition began. Although I was at work at the time, I came home to find a dumpster with most of my old bathroom in it. This was the pattern for the next several days, I would come home to find more debris in the dumpster until I could look into the rafters and in some cases dirt under the floorboards of the house. I love it!
More importantly, the Brigada crew was very, very tidy and cleaned up everyday before leaving, Andriy was very insistent upon this. The cleanup included sweeping and/or vacuuming in and around the work area, and outside, if they were staging any materials that could not be accommodated inside. They were very conscious of the fact that we had to maneuver in and around the work area and that we had to co-exist during this construction period, and I appreciated their efforts in doing so. More importantly, If no one was home when they left for the day, they made sure to secure all the locks on the house that they had keys for.
In regard to communications, Andriy would answer my telephone calls if he was available, or return them in a very reasonable amount of time. He also kept me informed via email and text, as it provided a written record of the information exchange. I found this to be very expedient to the process as I made several change orders to the original contract, which I would sign and fax back to Andriy or give to him in person. Because I could count on Brigada being on-site Monday-Saturday, it helped out a lot as they took delivery for the furniture and fixtures that I ordered, and diligently worked while they were there, regardless of whether Andriy was there or not. I found them to be a very focused, disciplined, and hard working crew.
After two weeks, and several inspections for the framing, electrical, plumbing, and shower, I began to see my vision come into view. In fact, I came home from work one day to find Andriy laying the floor heater and smoothing out the thinset himself. I asked him why he was doing it and not one of his crew, and he told me “I want perfection”. Gotta love this guy! In fact, I must say that although he was not on my job all day, everyday, he is an excellent manager. He gives his crew very specific instructions which they follow to the letter. If I asked a question, or requested something different than what they instructed, they were sure to get Andriy on the phone to consult with the three of us to make sure their instructions were correct. I loved it.
When all of the furniture, lights, tiles and fixtures arrived, Andriy would pull me in to mark the placement and height of where everything would be located. From the vanity to the electrical outlet, shower column and faucet height. Again, his goal was to make me happy, and his actions proved it. When planning out the tile, we went over the color scheme again to make sure that we had enough of each tile. This was very crucial in that we had to adjust the quantity to accommodate floor to ceiling tiles on 2 walls rather than one, which was misunderstood from the original request. This was one minor hiccup in the entire process. I was going for a clean, spa type of feel using Porcelanosa glass finished, ceramic tile for the majority of the bathroom walls with chrome accents running the length of the wall, a river stone shower floor, and a ceramic tile floor with a bamboo look to it. This was topped off with bathtub fixtures, and mirror from Restoration Hardware, and a shower column from Porcelanosa (also reviewed on Angie’s List). Because Restoration could not deliver the vanity I wanted in a timely fashion, I found a better replacement from Modern Bathroom in N. Hollywood and ended up buying a granite sink and Danze faucet and Toto toilet from them!
During the final week as everything was coming together, Andriy brought to my attention that the old windows in the bathroom detracted for the overall look. As I was hesitant to spend additional money on windows (i can be very cheap), both he and my partner reasoned with me how new vinyl windows would enhance the overall look of the remodel versus the existing windows. With such a compelling argument, I had to give in! The same goes for the beautiful mahogany door with frosted glass insert that perfectly complimented the vanity and bathroom. Andriy made the suggestion, gave me some alternatives, and the costs, and let me make the decision…how could I say no? Andriy was able to get the windows, custom made within 5 business days. Also during this time, Andriy brought in his master carpenter that set up shop in my courtyard. At first I couldn’t figure out what he was cutting, but as it turned out he created all the the trim pieces for the windows and pocket door. I truly gained an appreciation for great wood work as I watched him measure and cut, and hammered together the trim work with the precision of a jeweler. Once he completed his work he set the pocked door into place, tested it, removed it, adjusted it, and repeated this process several times until it was perfectly balanced and worked smoothly….Exquisite!
During the last two days, the crew was priming, sanding, and painting the walls and ceilings…TWICE! When Andriy says perfection he means it. The tub was tested and re-tested. The shower was tested and re-tested. The plumbing was checked and re-checked, and everything was done and waiting for final inspection on February 28, which passed with flying colors. And although the major work was completed, Andriy made sure to have one of his guys come for the next 2 days to do minor touch-ups, place additional accessories on the walls, and re-caulk the sink to ensure a nice clean seal.
Andriy and Brigada Builders turned my beast of a bathroom into a beauty! From the Porcelanosa tile walls to the riverstone shower floor, and polished chrome shower column, to the top of the line Hydrosystems tub and Spa, to the modern chrome fixtures on the glass shower enclosure and fixtures from Restoration Hardware, the finished product took my breath away. I must say that Andriy is a visionary as he “got it” when I was talking about how I wanted the bathroom to look. Thanks to him and his crew, I now have the modern, sleek, and sexy bathroom that I’ve always wanted, and more importantly it was built very well down to the last tile. All of the lines are straight, the angles are square, the seals are waterproof, nothing was scratched, dented or chipped, as they took great care throughout the entire process. It made me very proud to have chosen Brigada Builders.
What also impressed me is that Andriy knew by the quality of the materials I had purchased and the elements of the bathroom, that this was nobody’s home depot bathroom by a long shot. The man is an artist and visionary that can bring dreams to life. I know that he spends a lot of time thinking and planning, and doing the necessary detail work in order to have such a beautiful finished product. What I think is most impressive is that he listens and observes before speaking. His mind is always working to come up with the best solution to the question at hand. He is professional, polite, responsive, accurate, and very intelligent. He is cool under pressure, demanding, and uncompromising when it comes to quality. He is the real deal and a great builder, and I hope to have build my kitchen & family room addition when its time for the next remodel. Brigada is the best!

The project went very well. Andrew explained how the project would proceed. His craftsman came in, mitered the baseboard molding expertly. The room is irregular with nine corners. He completed the job neatly and timely (just a few hours). He set up a work area on the front porch and was careful not to leave a mess. The closet was also oddly shaped however, he repaired the damaged ceiling and walls then painted them and installed a new metal clothes rod. Andrew threw in an additional closet rod installation in a second closet at no extra charge!

We had water seeping into our basement and we needed the exterior waterproofed. They demolished 5’ x 15’ section of existing concrete walkway, and removed existing side gate. Excavated the trench; applied waterproofing material to the section of exterior wall. Installed foam boards to protect waterproofing while backfilling. Backfilled the trench, and compact dirt. Installed new larger 18” x 18” cast iron drain basin. Poured new 5’ x 15’ concrete walkway with broom finish. Applied new finish coat of stucco and painted it, where waterproofing had been applied. Re-applied new expansion joint between stucco and concrete. Re-installed existing side gate.
The work was done beautifully and very quickly. Andriy and his guys came out and completed the work in a shorter amount of time than estimated. They were professional and left the area looking better than it did before they came. It was completely sealed and when it rained the following day, we had no damage. We will definitely use this company again.

Andriy was amazing from start to finish. He quickly provided an estimate that was detailed and less expensive than most of the other companies I was looking at. He was responsive to my time demands and his crew showed up every day ready to work. From the outset, I felt very comfortable dealing with him. He doesn’t up-sell and will offer ideas to aid your budget. He’s down to earth and a very good listener. Responsive to lots of questions along the way. He was open to my ideas while adding his much needed expertise. Andriy and his crew removed walls and reframed my kitchen ceiling. Moved a small powder room with all it’s plumbing and rewired all electrical in the kitchen and bathroom. Since the demolition included a load-bearing wall, I required the services of a structural engineer that Andriy provided at a very good price. He obtained all building permits and during the wait time he scheduled work on other areas to avoid delays. When I need anything else done, no doubt he’ll be first in line. I will absolutely use him again and would recommend him to anyone.

Exterior painting with extensive prep work replacing damaged siding, rebuilding front stairs, and reflooring porch

I got an estimate for painting & prep as well as a second one for repairing damaged flooring on the porch and releveling the porch floor. After that work was done it was clear that the stairs leading to the porch were too damaged to do surface repair and needed to be completely rebuilt. It turned out to be more work than I thought at the beginning, but well worth it in terms of the high quality of the work. Andriy was a very good listener and responsive to lots of questions along the way. He was open to my ideas while adding much needed expertise in the areas of needed repair. A very good experience over all.

Installed can and track lighting; installed and connected security cameras, did the set-up for video security system.
I had purchased a video security system, and needed someone to install and connect the cameras. I also wanted to install lights in the showroom and office. When Andriy came for an estimate, we have discussed cameras locations for best coverage, and he also helped me pick lighting combination for the showroom. They were able to start the job right away, and all workers were very professional. They have ran the cables for the cameras, installed all the boxes, and did all the set-up for proper video streaming. They installed recessed can and track lights, ran all the wires and installed the switches. Although it was not a big job, everything was done with great attention to the details, the place was cleaned in the end of every working day, and overall I was left with the best impression of the company. I would recommend them with certainty to anybody.
